The best part of being a teacher, grading wise, is the opportunity to watch minds at work. I really get a kick out of reading essay answers because it gives me access to the student as more than a statistic, but as they represent themselves through language. I love it.
I also love when those answers go incredibly wrong. After giving an assignment in conjunction with watching a World War II Era Loony Toons Cartoon, this is the answer I received:
"daffy wouldn't have been able to hit hiter. hitler had like a thousand hit men surrounding him at all times. i don't care if you are a cartoon, no one can get around a thousand hit men... except maybe a ninja."
